Get your free estimateAmarr Roller Replacement: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Amarr roller replacement in Dallas typically runs $110 – $220 installed, and we carry the parts on the truck for most Amarr residential doors so the job gets done in a single visit. The rollers are the small wheels mounted on the sides of each panel that ride inside the vertical and horizontal tracks. When one fails, you’ll usually hear it first: a grinding, squealing, or rattling sound as the door moves, or the door starts jerking and hanging up partway through its travel. Left alone, a bad roller strains the rest of the hardware and can eventually pull a hinge loose or bend a track.
We’re Brock Garage Doors Dallas, an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Amarr, but we work on their doors every week and stock the roller sizes their residential lines actually use.
Which Amarr Models This Applies To
Amarr builds residential doors under several series names: Lincoln, Stratford, Heritage, Classica, and Oak Summit are the ones we see most often in the Dallas area. Rollers are not universal across all of them. The two measurements that matter are the roller stem length and the stem diameter. Most Amarr residential doors use either a 4-inch or 7-inch stem with a standard 7/16-inch diameter, but the Classica and some Heritage models run a shorter stem on the bottom bracket that’s easy to get wrong if you’re ordering blind.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see in the field: Amarr bottom brackets are stamped steel, and they wear unevenly when a roller has been grinding. You might replace the roller only to have the new one wobble because the bracket hole is now oval-shaped. We check the bracket on every roller replacement and tell you if it needs to be swapped at the same time. That’s the difference between a fix that lasts five years and one that fails again in six months.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Amarr-branded rollers are fine, but for Dallas garages we generally recommend a sealed-bearing aftermarket roller with a nylon wheel. The sealed bearing survives the dust and heat cycles better than the open roller bearings that come standard on most builder-grade doors. The upgrade is usually $15 – $30 total for a full set, and it’s worth it here.

Signs Your Amarr Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The door sounds rough or “crunchy” as it moves. This means the bearing inside the roller wheel has gone dry or flat-spotted. It won’t heal itself, and every cycle is wearing the track.
- The door jerks or stutters halfway up. One roller is binding or has a flat spot, so the panel catches until the opener forces it past. That repeated forcing is what eventually bends hinges.
- You can see metal shavings or dark dust on the track. The roller wheel is disintegrating. The dust is powdered steel and nylon from the bearing. Once you see this, replacement is overdue.
- The door hangs crooked or a gap opens at one side. A roller may have popped out of the hinge barrel or the stem has snapped. Don’t run the opener in this condition.
- The door is noisier than it was six months ago. Rollers fail gradually. If your Dallas garage door has gotten progressively louder, the rollers are usually the first thing we check.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Dallas homeowners, a full roller replacement on a standard Amarr two-car door runs $110 – $220 installed. A single-roller swap, which we do when one has failed but the rest are serviceable, runs on the lower end of that range. The price includes the rollers themselves, labor, and a quick track-and-hinge inspection while we’re in there.
What drives the range:
- Number of rollers being replaced (single versus full set of 10 – 12)
- Stem length and whether we need the less common 4-inch or 7-inch variant
- Nylon sealed-bearing upgrade versus standard roller
- Bracket condition: if the bottom bracket needs replacement, that’s a small added line item
You get the written price before we start, and it doesn’t change when the invoice prints. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if a roller we installed fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check what’s wrong without risking anything. With the door closed, look at the rollers where they meet the track. If you see cracked nylon, exposed metal, or wobble when you wiggle the door panel slightly, that’s your answer. What we don’t recommend is a DIY roller swap on a door with torsion springs. The bottom roller bracket is under constant cable tension, and the top roller sits next to a spring system that stores enough energy to seriously injure you. We’ve seen homeowners in Dallas get in over their heads fast because a “simple” roller swap turned into a spring mishap. If the door has torsion springs, call us at (254) 269-5837 and let a trained tech handle it.
FAQs
Standard rollers on an Amarr door in Dallas typically last 5 – 7 years before the bearings dry out, though the heat and fine dust in our area can shorten that. Sealed-bearing nylon rollers usually go 10 – 12 years. If your door sees two to four cycles a day, expect the shorter end of that range.
No. The roller is a sealed unit, so once the bearing fails or the wheel cracks, there’s nothing to rebuild. Replacement is the only correct fix, and it’s the least expensive repair on a garage door. Call (254) 269-5837 and we’ll tell you exactly what you need.
Most roller replacements take 45 – 90 minutes on site. Single roller swaps are faster. We carry Amarr-compatible rollers in the common stem lengths on the truck, so we usually finish in one visit.
We stock the roller sizes Amarr residential doors use, including the shorter bottom-bracket stems on Classica and Heritage models, plus sealed-bearing nylon upgrades. For LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie opener parts, we stock those on the truck as well. You don’t need to order anything ahead of time.
